I believe that if you spend the majority of life at work then you should spend it doing something you really want to do.
After many years of driving HGV’s in the retail sector I have finally decided to follow my lifelong passion of garden maintenance, something I have always enjoyed!
I began work on a farm whilst still at school and continued in this role after leaving school. This involved me completing a range of tasks which were skills I developed for life, including hedge cutting and maintaining outdoor spaces. This began my passion for the outdoors and grounds maintenance.
After several years working on the farm I went on to work for Bromsgrove Council in a temporary position, where I continued to cut and maintain hedges and grass on public highways, developing my skills to a higher standard. Following this position I changed my career pathway and worked at BKL in aluminium extrusion for over 10 years.
After BKL closed and in the same week my first daughter was born I gained my HGV licence to support my new young family. Two years later my twins were born, seeing me with higher financial commitments. Becoming a HGV driver and working in this role for 21 years enabled me to support my family financially.
With my children now grown up and stepping onto their own career ladders my financial strain in supporting my family has decreased dramatically. This has enabled me to take up my lifelong passion of grounds maintenance and hedge cutting. I began by balancing my driving with setting up as a new business in the local area. The idea came from cutting hedges for family and friends who were very satisfied with the work I completed, this is where DM Cutting Hedge was born.
My main skills are hedges, grass cutting, small tree pruning, fence erecting and repairs, as well as general garden maintenance.
DM Cutting Hedge is growing from strength to strength with a growing database of customers very satisfied in the work I complete.
